I think 4K might expose how soft some of those special effects are now, I don't think it would look better than it does, who knows. It just has that flat digital camcorder look during a lot of it. I wasn't aware that T2 wasn't well-received in terms of the 4K release.Ĭlick to expand.I think T3 had a fair bit of digitizing done to the image, it was shot in Super35 if I'm remembering correctly, but it sure doesn't look like it. You really don't think a 4K encode would improve it?

Would you believe I'm STILL watching the Artisan EXtreme Edition DVD of Judgement Day - and that it looks and sounds fantastic, even upscaled on a 4K display?Īs for the T3 transfer, it is kind of flat and dull in certain spots, but coming from the full screen DVD, the difference was pretty impressive when I first laid eyes on it.

I can remember watching the full screen DVD I had of the title on a small tube TV I had at the time, and the audio mix shook my apartment to pieces.

However, that track, based on the DVD's release, was a barnstormer, for sure, and kicks ass to this day. went the way of Superman Returns and Michael Clayton on Blu-ray with T3, giving it a lossy Dolby Digital track. I remember when this got a HD DVD release, and I also recall when there was that kurfuffle surrounding the first BD release having a 1080i encode that caused some image problems.Īs for the sound, yeah - it's odd that Warner Bros. Oddly enough, I always liked the sequels in this franchise, save for Salvation, better than the original, which I understand is a sci-fi/action classic (and that doesn't usually happen with originals and sequels!) I could just never warm up to the pacing of that first entry.

As an idea it's kind of like a steak someone dropped on the dirty floor. Arnie's cringe inducing scene at the beginning in the club ("Talk to the hand") is kind of a metaphor for the entire film. If anything I think Terminator 3 is an extremely odd duck movie, Terminator 2 didn't need a sequel at all. In fact, according to T3 the machines just would have sent an army of Tx's back over and over skipping all those obsolete Terminator models, Sam Worthington's model especially was pointless to even develop, I think in general James Cameron was right never to go beyond T2. It just doesn't line up clean with the other three movies, and the more I ever try to make perfect sense of it the more my head hurts. Head and shoulders above Terminator 3, for sure. I just re-watched it quite recently and was very surprised how sharp the special effects still look, they are incredible.

The movie has fantastic production, acting, and the story I like. But I realized when I separated it from being Terminator 4 to being kind of a brand new Reboot, it gets a lot better. Soon a nuclear war will result - and the war against the machines will begin.Click to expand. It is. However, when the SkyNet virus infects the U.S military computers & leaves the country open to attack, the machines begin their horrific takeover. Air Force General - is in charge of the military computer systems & is leery of up linking SkyNet. John has also met his future wife, Kate Brewster, whose father - a U.S. Now, Skynet is patiently assuming control of civilian computer systems, under the guise of a computer virus. However, another CSM-101 Terminator is also sent back to protect John against the T-X. Unfortunately, SkyNet does send another one back - and this one is called the T-X, even more powerful & advanced than the dreaded T-1000. More than 10 years after 'Terminator 2', John Connor now exists only as a drifter - living 'off the grid', so no more Terminators from the future can hunt him down.
